Happy New Year!

Well Christmas has just come and gone and I missed getting this post out before then, but it is in time for the new year. Speaking of the new year, our local trail system will look a bit different in 2026. A while back I posted about these potential changes to Bateman Island. Well, as of last weekend (Dec 21st) they have started the project to remove the causeway that connects Bateman Island to the mainland to help improve water flows and fish habitat for the Yakima River delta. It looks like bikerafters will soon have a bikerafting island to explore in our local area. Mainland access is now closed for good.

Here is a look back to what the trails on Bateman Island have to offer. They will be slightly more difficult to access going forward but still great to explore. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Sam-dog and the crew! I hope you have started to think about new outdoor adventures for 2026.
