Sea Kayak Packraft?

Alpacka is launching a new model of packraft specifically designed for flatwater (sea kayak model). According to the Alpacka website it will be coming in January of 2026. This could be a good new option for those interested in Puget Sound bikerafting routes listed here.

I generally figure I can average about 2mph paddling speed in my classic model packraft on flatwater with no current or wind. It will be interesting to see how much faster this new model will be. It is likely still quite a bit slower than dedicated hard-sided sea kayaks, but probably significant improvement over previous packraft options on the market.
